1. Optimize the contents of your website

It is important to optimize the website to its fullest capabilities. Partially search engines rank websites based on contents (I have done a post on non-contents seo some time ago). The website must be search engine friendly and useful to the human user.

2. Develop contents with strategy

Building contents with strategy, you need to always create new contents as both your readers and the bots love fresh new contents. All contents needs to be well optimized to get you maximum exposure.

3. Make use of PPC

Search engine optimization can take time, especially in competitive markets. By using PPC engines you can get immediate traffic to your website while you wait for your seo efforts to kick in. Generally it is advisable to engage in seo and PPC campaigns as the mix will benefit you greatly.

4. Write articles and market them

A very effective method of marketing is to publish articles. These need to be submitted to as many article directories as possible. Other websites might use your article as contents and this will help you gain link popularity. Commonly the links are not of much value in regards to PR gains. You can also syndicate your articles via RSS.

11 Steps to Promote Using Online Social Media

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Step 1. First of all you should tell the online community who you are. Unless people know about you, you will be just an unknown identity and commonly people don’t like to deal with people they don’t know. Create an About Me or profile page to list your achievements, skills and aspirations, etc.

Step 2. It is advisable to create a MySpace page and link your biography in the Profile of your MySpace page with your website. Spend a few hours every week to develop your social network in MySpace. Invite a few of your new friends to write blog articles about your products or services.

Step 3. Install a free blog (Blogger or Wordpress) and start publishing at least one article every week. Add a bookmarking feature for social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us. You can use a small script or plugin that provides a number of buttons at the bottom of each article or post on your website or blog. The button will take your readers to the submission page of the various bookmarking sites. For Wordpress download this bookmarking-plugin

Step 4. Be sure that the button for posting of blog articles to Digg is also included. Digg is a popular news ranking site. Can bring thousands of visitors to your website or blog. If you are using the wp-plugin I have offered for download then Digg is included.

Step 5. It helps to have a forum at your site or blog for users to discuss your products and services.

Step 6. If you are offering products, allow users to review or rate your products, also a good feature for posts.

Step 7. Be sure to create RSS feeds for new products, blogs, forum postings, etc.

Step 8. Publish all your feeds at Feedburner. Feedburner also provides an advertising network (Adsense) for your feeds. If you have quality content, you will be able to monetize your content.

Step 9. Try to create short tutorials or new product videos and post these on YouTube and Google video.

Step 10. Make use of social photo sharing sites like Flickr and SmugMug to share pictures.

Step 11. Provide the a feature to send article, news, product description to a recipient via mail.
