Small Business Marketing - Clients Relationship

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

If you want to generate new business that you can keep for a lifetime then you’d better make it a number one priority to keep in touch with your customers. The reason you’d want to do this is so that you can remain at the top of mind with your clients. When they’re ready to buy, you’re the one they’ll think of first.

It’s not unusual to hear cases in which a business will send out newsletters to their customers for years before they buy. You want to position yourself in such a way that when they’re ready to buy — you’ll get the sale.

The lesson here: keep communicating and following up with your customers until they’re ready to place an order with you.

Small business Marketing - Lifetime Value Of Your Clients

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Every business owner needs to fully understand the life time value of their customers.

This is the total profit that a customer will bring to your business over the lifetime of your dealings with that customer.

The following example will explain why it’s important to know this number: Let’s pretend you own a book store. If your customer spends $50 every time they walk into your store, and they visit once a month for 4 years, a customer is worth $2400.00. The math would look like this: $50 (average bill) x 12 (number of visits) x 4 (number of years).

Think of how much money you’re missing out on if you were thinking of only one transaction?

Let’s take a look at another example: John Smith sells a cd plus manual kit on how to self-publish a book. The initial manual set is worth $500. John knows that over the lifetime of a customer, a significant number will spend somewhere between $20,000 and $40,000 with additional products!

By knowing his numbers he can afford to allocate a significant amount of money towards his advertising budget to bring in more customers. Why? Because he is equipped with information that he’ll make it up on average over the lifetime of the customer.

7 Marketing tips for 2008

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

1. Optimize the contents of your website
2. Develop contents with strategy
3. Make use of PPC
4. Write articles and market them
5. Use social media marketing methods
6. Create a blog
7. Experiment with video marketing

1. Optimize the contents of your website

It is important to optimize the website to its fullest capabilities. Partially search engines rank websites based on contents (I have done a post on non-contents seo some time ago). The website must be search engine friendly and useful to the human user.

2. Develop contents with strategy

Building contents with strategy, you need to always create new contents as both your readers and the bots love fresh new contents. All contents needs to be well optimized to get you maximum exposure.

3. Make use of PPC

Search engine optimization can take time, especially in competitive markets. By using PPC engines you can get immediate traffic to your website while you wait for your seo efforts to kick in. Generally it is advisable to engage in seo and PPC campaigns as the mix will benefit you greatly.

4. Write articles and market them

A very effective method of marketing is to publish articles. These need to be submitted to as many article directories as possible. Other websites might use your article as contents and this will help you gain link popularity. Commonly the links are not of much value in regards to PR gains. You can also syndicate your articles via RSS.

New online survey feature

Friday, December 21st, 2007

We have recently added a new online survey feature to our blog. In the recent past we had done a posting on online and e-mail surveys, we pointed out in detail how important this tool can be to gather relevant information that will enable a person or company that is using a survey to analyze how to implement improvements for a greater response and user experience.

We kindly invite our visitors to participate in our survey as we are doing this to help you. We want you to have a great blogging experience when you visit our blog and we want to ensure that we have a base of visitors that show us that our efforts are of great benifit to them. The greatest reward for bloggers are commonly a large number of readers and visitors.

There are many blogs with similar information but with your help we will stand out from the crowd. Thank you for taking a few minutes of your valuable time for our survey. As a small compensation we will add your domain to our directory free of charge as featured listing.

We will post the survey results on a quarter year basis so that you can also view how we analyze these results and implement changes accordingly.

Affiliate Marketing for Blogs

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

There are hundreds if not thousands of affiliate marketing opportunities offered to webmasters. Some of the more well known are Google Adsense, Amazon, Clickbank, Linkshare and Commission Junction. All these programs are fairly easy to setup, especially if you maintain a Wordpress blog as the codes can be added to the widgets.

I have several blogs and I personally prefer to use Google Adsense and Amazon as these programs adjust automatically to your contents and due to the vast amount of products these companies offer there will surely always be a product or service that suites your topic.

You will need loads of traffic to earn money with these affiliate programs as thousands of clicks will lead to small amount of product sales. My experience with AdSense is that you require 1000 unique hits per day to have a monthly income of 300 - 500 $US. This will surely depend on the niche you choose, keeping in mind the keywords with better payouts will also be very competitive and more difficult to for you to achieve top placement in search engines.

When searching the internet you will find loads of offers explaining how you can earn thousands of $ per month with Adsense and it sounds so simply, commonly these people or companies are trying to sell software that generated thousands of Adsense websites with “good” contents, or they sell hundreds of ready made niche websites with contents. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is ! First of all the software is sold several times hence you will not have unique contents. They all seem to miss out on telling you how difficult it is to get websites to rank and if you are starting off with a new domain you will need to spend thousands on link building or invest years in doing it yourself.
